| The Fifth Annual Littleton Summer Fest 2008 Parade Application PARADE DATE/TIME: 1:00 PM, SATURDAY, JUNE 21, 2008 PARADE THEME: “THE MAGIC OF MOTION PICTURES” ENTRY FEES NOT REQUIRED APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED FOR PARTICIPATION APPLICATION DEADLINE: 3:00 PM FRIDAY, JUNE 13, 2008. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED ON OR BEFORE THIS DATE. MAIL APPLICATIONS TO: LITTLETON CIVIC BOOSTER CLUB, c/o DENNIS HARTWELL, PO BOX 66, LITTLETON, NH 03561. ASSEMBLY AREA All entries will be given a placement number. These numbers are for the order of the parade and for judging. These numbers will also direct each entry to the approximate location in the assembly area for the lining up. Line-up will be at the Hitchiner Mfg Company Parking Lot just off Union Street and will begin as follows: 10:00 AM Large Floats (Floats on Flatbeds, Tractor Trailer Floats, and Motorized non-pulled Floats) 11:00 AM Small Floats (Floats on Pick-Up Truck beds, Small Trailers, Decorated Autos) 12:00 Noon Marching Bands & Marching Units 12:15 PM Antique Cars, Politicians, Animal Units, Decorated Bicycles, and other Motor Vehicles Horse entries MUST supply their own clean-up crew to clean up both the line-up area and the parade route. FLOATS It is the responsibility of each entrant to see to it that their float clears all obstacles (tree limbs, traffic lights, overhanging utility wires). Floats must not exceed 13 feet in height, 8 feet in width, and 40 feet in length. DAMAGE TO ANY PROPERTY PUBLIC OR PRIVATE, CAUSED BY ANY ENTRY, WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ENTRANT AND NOT THE PARADE COMMITTEE, LITTLETON CIVIC BOOSTER CLUB, OR THE TOWN OF LITTLETON. At the conclusion of the parade, any and all individuals riding on floats MUST exit the float before that entry returns to the normal flow of traffic. NOTHING IS TO BE THROWN FROM PARADE UNITS (NO EXCEPTIONS) For the safety of individuals (including children) along the parade route, items such as candy, trinkets, promotional items and/or brochures may NOT be thrown from any entry. Walkers with your entry may hand out items, as long as they are given directly to the spectators and not thrown. NO WATER PISTOLS, SQUIRT GUNS OR WATER CANNONS The parade committee and the Littleton Civic Booster Club do not want the responsibility of spectators getting wet through the use of these items. UNIT POSITION All units participating in the parade MUST keep a minimum distance of three (3) cars lengths between them and the unit in front of them AT ALL TIMES. If the unit in front of you stops for ANY reason, make sure that you maintain the proper distance. Likewise, don’t “fall behind” to create gaps in the parade. You will be spaced accordingly when the parade steps out. DRUGS & ALCOHOL WILL NOT BE TOLERATED either before, during or after the parade in any public place. Please do not allow anyone involved with your entry to jeopardize your participation by ignoring this rule. PERFORMANCES ALONG THE PARADE ROUTE Due to the rules and regulations set forth by the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, it will not be possible for entries (marching bands, drill teams, etc…) to stop during the parade to perform. With advance notice, arrangements may be made for your group to do a short performance following the parade in the carnival area. FIRE DEPARTMENTS AND EMERGENCY VEHICLES Due to possible equestrian units and marching bands near you and small children along the parade route, we request that no sirens or air horns be used. However, any and all lights may be displayed. JUDGING AND TROPHIES Judging will take place at 12:00 Noon before the parade. Three judges will be selected from the Littleton area. Your entry must be in position and ready to go by 12:00 Noon to qualify for the judging process. Trophies will be awarded in the following categories and be announced from the Reviewing Stand: COMMUNITY TROPHY For Most Original Interpretation of the theme by a Non-Profit Organization CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TROPHY For Most Original Interpretation of the theme by a Business SELECTMAN’S TROPHY For Most Original Interpretation of the theme by an Individual or Family POLLYANNA TROPHY For Most Optimistic Interpretation of the theme (including humor) by Any Participant GRAND MARSHAL’S TROPHY For Most Beautiful Interpretation of the theme by Any Participant PARADE COMMITTEE TROPHY For Outstanding Achievement in Float Design ROY ROGERS TROPHY For Best Presentation by an Equestrian I have read the information outlined above and agree to these policies.
